A dry van is a type of semi-trailer that is fully enclosed to protect shipments from outside elements. Sides and roof are solid panels, rear is double-door swing access.
The term "dry" distinguishes the trailer from refrigerated (reefer) units. There is no temperature control — just weather protection, security, and a flat deck for palletized or floor-loaded cargo.
Dry van is the most common trailer type on US roads because it works for almost everything: pallets, boxes, machinery, consumer goods, retail freight. If your freight does not need to be cold and is not over-dimensional, dry van is the answer.
